What does my horses brand mean?
THE BRANDS ARE WHAT THE HORSES BIRTH PLACE GAVE HER SO YOU CAN BACK TRACK HER BLOODLINES AND FIGURE OUT WHERE SHE CAME FROM, TWO OF MY HORSES ARE BRANDED, ONE IS FROM A RANCH OUT BY THE BORDER OF MEXICO AND MY OTHER GUY ITHINK IS FROM NEW YORK. EITHER THAT OR IF YOU GOT HER AT A AUCTION THEY'LL BRAND THEM THERE TOO.
brands are typically just where they came from. if you could trace her back to her original owners, they could tell you what they mean. its probably a ranch symbol. i dont know how laws work there, but if you have free range animals, people brand them so they know whos are whos
there are breed brands and farm brands if it is a breed brand(mostly for warmbloods ) they are on the left hind. barn brands can be any where, even the wither or neck, so where ever he came from they probably did that to mark him as their own or to number him as to order of birth of their farms foals.
hey! im in new zealand too! :) pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
that brand doesnt mean anything in particular, its just the symbol of the stud where she was born.
on the other side of her body the brand tells you what number foal she was (like if it says 12 she was the 12th foal born at that stud that year) (top line)
and what year she was born in (bottom line)
