I Need Some Ideas? (20 Characters)?
I lease a horse from my coach and once a week I have a free ride where I can do basically anything but jump.
I need some exercise-type ideas that we can do. Usually we do circles, figure 8's, serpentine, gait changes, things like that. It gets a bit boring for both of us after a while.

What are some good things we could do on free rides? I ride english.
Thanks=)

answer:
Go outside on a trail! If it is icy watch out but just snow and kinda snowy dirt it is fine. (clearly I live somewhere cold lol) but going out on a trail is a great way for you and your horse to do something different. Ask a friend to come with you that is always lots of fun.

I ride English and my horse and I love going out on trails it is a great break for schooling and lessons!

Or one day
Ride bareback lol so much fun

Hope I helped!

I know you said you ride English, but you don't specify what your goals are in your riding. Are you really wanting to be a hunter/jumper in competition? Are you thinking of going into eventing or endurance riding? What about dressage? pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Dressage flat work is something that you could do a lot of, and it would improve your riding skill as well as your horse's flexibility and skill.

Check out this website: http://www.equestrianandhorse. com/traini ...

When I rode and didn't want to work over jumps, I'd do a lot of trail riding skills - practicing getting the mail, opening gates, side stepping over to fences, etc. I'd also work the caveletti a lot - it's good for teaching your horse (and you) how to shorten and extend his gait.

work on improving your dressage, learn how to get her working in a good frame and then practise some suppling excercises like leg yeilding, half pass, shoulder in and turns on the forehand. very rewarding when you get them right:)

last season i challenged myself to become an amazing bareback rider, my goal was to be able to jump bareback, though u cant jump, it can be a really fun thing to work on and definately improves ur relationship with ur horse too! some days i school my horse bareback for a bit more of a challege and some fun
