Please please help me?
last saturday i got thrown off my uncles mule, and was sent to the hospital. i broke my collarbone in 2 places and cracked my liver, kidney, and spleen. i am out of school for a month, i was in the hospital almost 5 days. when the mule took off running and bucking, i almost went head first into a tree, so i would have probably died. and the day before this happened me and my mom had a huge fight and i told her i wished i was dead. and now that this happened i am so lucky to be alive, and i dont want to die now, i know that life is a gift, and you should enjoy it not get rid of it. and i am just so fortunate and thankful i am alive. but now i may never be able to ride again, and if i do this could happen again and really hurt me, i dont kno what to do, my parents dont want me to ride anymore, but i love it so much. i have been riding my whole life, but i dont want to get hurt again. i do show miniature horses too though, so if i didn't ride anymore i will always have the minis. but i really dont want to quit riding. but if i get hurt like this again, i could die. and since this happened after i said i wished i was dead, im just soo happy be alive, and i dont want to die, and im crying as i type this, i dont kno what to do, please help me!!

ps if i stop riding my hunter/jumper horse will be wasted away, and i dont want to sell her, but she has so much potential and i dont want to waste that, please help me !!!
answer: I think you wrote awhile ago about our uncles mule and I suggested doing a lot of ground work and to talk to people who are familiar with mules. They are not the same as horses and as much as I may not want to admit it, they are much smarter. I have always been told, "if you get kicked by a mule it meant to kick you, missing is a warning." Mules don't ride the same as horses. If not, now I have said it ... better late than never. I'm not trying to sound mean, so I hope it doesn't come across this way. Mules are great animals, I personally happen to like Mammoth Jacks, and they are even smarter and can be a little more ornery. You took a hard spill and you are lucky. Thank God it wasn't worse.

I'm sorry you got hurt. Riding is your choice, no one can tell you to ride or not ride. Spend some time on the ground working around the horses again to rebuild your confidence. When you feel comfortable, have someone there with you in a controlled area, so you don't lose your confidence and start at just a walk. Do simple things until you have your confidence back. If you are too uncomfortable or afraid, then don't do it. Maybe in a few months give it a try again. I wish you the best and a speedy recovery.
Well it all depends on you. Horseback riding is a risk. Everytime u sit on a horse your life is in danger. and if you love it, you will take the risk. but i understand what you are saying about life being precisious bc it is! but in life you need to take risks .. you can get hurt in a car to but that doesnt stop ppl from driving. if your not comfortable riding again then dont. but if you truly love it and want to get back on, then do it! if you want to get back into riding once your well, go on an easy going horse and just walk for a while. then eventually trot. and then canter. work to get back your confidence. if you really dont want to risk it. then lease your horse out and show your minis for a while.if you eventually decide not to ride again, sell your horse. ik it may seem hard but its for the best if you dont want to ride. i hope i helpped! hope ur recovery is fast (:

myself
ok so even though this seems a bit far fetched and not sure if to
believe it or not i will answer any way.
It is totally up to you whether you ride again or not, and whether you
would be happy just showing mini's.
i guess i can kind of relate as i have been though some thing
like this before i broke my neck and pro-lapsed a disk
and the doctors told me that it could take some thing as
slight as getting whip-lash and the disk could shot out and
knock my spinal colum out and and i would either be paralised
or dead, but i made the decision to keep riding and since then
i have had some terrible falls one of which i broke my back and got internal
bleeding in, i guess i have just been lucky so far but i guess what i am trying to
say is it is my risk to take and i believe it is worth it.
and that is what you will have to decide for yourself. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
hope this helps
So .... what do you want a bunch of strangers to do for you?
