i know this might be a stupid question, but what should i wear if i'm just going to hang out around the barn?

boots and clothes that you wouldn't mind ruining!

I usually wear shorts and tee shirt, but most important is CLOSED TOED SHOES. Always, always, always. Unless you have extra toes, or don't want to keep the standard compliment of 10 toes with 5 on each foot, always wear closed toed shoes when around horses. Even tennis shoes will assist you in not getting a toe cut off by a sharp horsie hoof, even and I don 't believe that even steel toed boots are strong enough to withstand the pressure of a horse stomp, and the steel can bend in an add to the damage. When (not if) you get stepped on, its gonna hurt, bruise, etc, but without closed toed shoes, you add a cut to the mix.

Even if Im not riding out I tend to wear my jodhs and fleeces that I would when Im riding as they're comfortable and Im not too bothered about them getting dirty or dusty. I think something like that or an old pair of jeans would be fine

When I hang out around the barn I wear my rubber boots (am getting a pair of winter riding boots for x-mas!!) sweat pants, tight pants or jeans, and a sweater/jacket/t-shirt I don't mind getting dirty!

proper footwear (boots) .. and yard clothes, dont arrive in your sunday best!!
