i want to know how to groom my palimino for show i gget up very early to do this so i have all the time in the world and i do a lot the night before and he will stay clean so the longest awnser is ok and feel free to email if you want
Let's start with the fact your horse is a palomino. You have to spell it properly or I will keep laughing:)
If you are competing in a PHBA show, then some classes are judged on your horse's color. Preparing for a show starts with an excellent feeding program. The goal of your breed is to have the horse's haircoat be the same as a gold coin.
- Dapples are bad. They can appear when you feed your horse too much protein, so make sure you're not feeding straight alfalfa.
- Anything other than pure white mane and tail hair is also undesirable, so make sure your horse's hair receives regular care and shampoo with a whitening product like Quick Silver for the best, brightest white.

Starting the night before, bathe your horse. After the bath, spray his body with shine polish like Show Sheen, but avoid his mane if you are going to band or braid him. It will make the hair slippery.
When he drys, clip him carefully with a size 30 blade. Clip the whiskers around his muzzle, the long eye lashes, under the jaw and his ears. If he has white socks, you may want to clip those with a size 10 blade (so they are not bald, but look very white). Also, it is a great time to band or braid your horse. When you're done, put a slinky and sheet on him to keep clean . If he has a long tail, you may want to braid it loosely to keep it clean and free of shavings.
In the morning, undo his tail braid and finger comb. It will straighten over time as you are preparing for your events, so resist the urge to brush it right away. Take off the slinky and sheet. Check his mane and adjust any bands or braids that may have shifted overnight. If necessary, use a clean rubber curry to bring his natural oils up on his hair coat to enhance the shine from the Show Sheen. Then brush him with a dandy brush, especially around the face, to really pick up any small dust.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com If you have baby powder, you can brush it into his white markings like his socks to make them brighter. If you have highlighter, like baby oil or face grease, put a small amount on his muzzle, inside his ears, and around his eyes to make his face sparkle. Apply hoof oil to polish his feet without drying them out. Then fly spray him to keep him comfortable.
Keep some baby wipes with you to clean his nostrils, wipe away any dust, or smooth unruly mane hairs.
Good luck!
