mare (mAIR)
gelding ("g" pronounced as in grape, then 'elding')
paddock (pad-dock, some people pronounce it "pad-dick")
fjord (fee-yord)
mare=m-air
gelding is pronounced with ag as in 'girl', not g as in 'gel' (you'd think that's the way it should be since it's gel-ding, but it's not)
paddock=I just say 'pa-dock' with an a sound, not an 'ahh', but depending on where you are it may be different. Don't be afraid to ask your riding instructor which way he/she pronounces it.
Fjord=fee-yord
Good job on wanting to be prepared. Have fun with your lessons!!:)
