Can I face jail time if I do this?
As some of you know, my two year filly was bred by my neighbors stud without my permission. If you want to read more about it, here is a link. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index; _ylt=Aguzrvy8a8wMmNBDLAlCvJTsy6IX; _ylv=3? qid=20100829200052AA0367r

Now, am I wondering if I could face jail time if I waited until my neighbor left, loaded his stallion in my trailer, took him to the vet and got him gelded? It would be worth any fee's, but not worth jail time. I think it would be a good thing to do to him since he bred my mare without my permission.

I totally understand your anger! I would be so pi # $ ed if I were you. But getting yourself in trouble would just make him happy and the LAST thing you want is to make this POS happy.
Ugh, I feel real bad for you, but make sure you follow through with civil court. Gotta get him somewhere.

Just sue his ***. My mare is possibly pregnant (shes getting huge so I'm having the vet out) and if she is pregnant, she will have been bred without my permission, in which case I have every right to sue. So do you. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

I wonder if there is a chemical or something you can give him that will make him sterile. Then they'll just think he's not fertile by some natural cause instead of coming out one day and realize his balls are missing; -]
I will admit it's very tempting though !!!!

Wow, that's the pot calling the kettle black for sure. you do realize you are angry because he bred your mare WITHOUT PERMISSION ... and now you want to geld his stallion WITHOUT PERMISSION. That is the most hypocritical thing ever ... PLUS the vet will not preform a procedure on a horse that isn't yours. AND your little friend could sue you and you could land jail time. I understand you are frustrated, but that is absolutely ridiculous, not to mention completely childish.

yeah, sounds like jail time to me. Why? Because you should have taken the matter to court and show your proof and have the judge make the decision, that way you could have solved the matter without jail time. Just loading his stallion into your trailer is theft (It could be considered grand theft, 15 years), and doing something, anything, to that animal is illegal as well.

I wouldn't do it. You could get charged for trespassing, and then you're basically paying your neighbor-Gelding isn't cheap. Now, if the stallion got disappeared, and mysteriously appeared several miles out where a concerned citizen called animal control .... Well, the shelter would prolly geld him. But if you got caught, it'd be theft. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Just take him to court.

definately not the right thing to do. big trouble for that. huge. it would be considered horse theft, and could probably be considered animal abuse or damage to property and trespassing. and when you present to a judge ... yea but her stallion bred to my mare .. i don't think it'll go over well. i would just call animal control or something like that and they will tell him to control his stallion and that way if he gets out he would be the one in trouble.

Horses are considered property.

You're going to steal your neighbor's property.

find out if it's illegal for him to have a stallion in your area.

In some areas it's not legal to keep stallions and your neighbor can get into a lot of legal trouble for not keeping a good fence.

You have grounds to sue him. So, do that. He was negligent. And you can get a lot of $ from him or force him to geld his horse legally.

Talk to a lawyer.

Jail time is almost positively going to come after gelding your neighbors horse without his permission, although your neighbor breeding his horse with yours is not any more legal, so that is a strong argument.

Time in the slammer though is probably a definite.

Just turn the pasture around! call the law on him & he will be 'doing time'! and this is a fact in any State! I know. had this problem & ended up with his Stallion! but if i were you i really would plus have the vet out & abort her & he has to pay the bill. please take action now. and good luck! keep us posted!

I agree with other posters, I would get a restraining order and find a good lawyer. It always backfires when you do the 'tit for tat', this should be handled legally. In the end you will most likely prevail.

I think you would be facing jail time because you would be basicaly stealing the horse. Plus you could be charged for traspassing .. I dont think that you should take him without the neighbors permission.

maybe you should just accidently * cough cough * break the fence and let the stud out. Then say you picked him up not realizing he wad that guys stud and drop his off at a shelter that will chop off hs nuts.

It depends upon the laws in your state, but I'd guess that yes, prison time would be a definite possibility.
