Galloping question (20 characters)?
I am not allowed to gallop freely in the back fields where i board my horse.
Is it safe for me to try galloping in our largest arena? (the size of a jumper ring)

I ride english.
answer:
Its safe to a point. For one thing, your likley to run into a wall, since it is an arena and all.

Second, it wont be as enjoyable galloping in the arena. Just wait till you are able to gallop out in the field. Trust me, it will be worth it! i waited 2 years to finally gallop my horse, and now all i want to do is gallop. lol
You could try it when you're alone for the first time.
Have fun!
It's safer.. cause there aren't random holes and things to trip on..

But there isn't really a point in trying to gallop..

If you wanna try.. then make sure someone is watching you, and DON'T forget to wear a helmet.

If you were riding Western.. then I'd be more up to saying yes. lol
i would try it. Galloping is fun, just be safe and if your horse becomes upset for any reason pull him back down. :)
When you're alone, just go for it! Let the wind fly through your hair. Just make sure that the horse is quiet, because some of them will get a bit frisky when galloping. Just go for like 20 strides or so, just to get a taste...and you'll never want to go back to walking again.
yes i think its safe, just be careful going around the bends of the arena, for example gallop the straight aways and loap the bends. and if anyone is in the arena just ask them if u can so that u dont danger or disrespect anyone else.so let me no if it wrks out. have fun!!!!

I WOULD NOT gallop by yourself for the first time, or in a field. The ring is the best bet. Make sure your horse is going in very large circles, the biggest you can get her to go. Move her into a canter, then nudge her out until she's in a gallop. You will be able to tell because it will seem like you are much lower to the ground, and 'floating.' If she starts getting out of control, bring her down as soon and as safely as you can.
You can try. You probably won't get much more than a hand gallop, which is fine- As long as you keep him balanced around the turns you're fine. I wouldn't worry about it much.
yes, as long as your being supervised because if something goes wrong you could get a serious injury. i would start with a fast canter and then slowly go into a gallop for a while then bring it back down to a canter, i would ease into a gallop, so your horse becomes used to doing it with you, if you don't do it often
You might feel more safer in a western saddle with the saddle horn to grab on if you get scared or if something random happens, the arena might be a little tight for a full gallop. Try a fast cantor first to get the feel of how much space you have and if you think there's enough room do a gallop down the center so you have more room to slow down and take a corner. If your horse is a fast turner you'll find out pretty quickly!
I would try it but you probably wouldn't be able to get very fast gallop. i would get a friend with a quiet horse to come out on a hack with you and gallop there. www.5d2d.comPets Questions and Answers
That is do you have anywhere you can hack out?
If you don't you could ask a local farmer if you can hack out on there land.
