Do you have to be eighteen to show a stallion?
My friend has Mustang stud colt in which she has been training and she wishes to enter him in show. I ride for leisure mostly so I wouldn't know. My other friend told me you have to be eighteen. Is this correct? Why?
answer:
No. For open shows that are NOT youth, anyone can show a stallion.

Youth shows and youth classes, and 4-h shows do not allow studs but any othe classes do(as long as they are not mare or specialized classes). Many stallions are shown by kids,in regular classes. I am 15 and I work with studs.

And yes, some younger kids can handle a stallion better than an adult, it is all about having the know-how and smarts. If you are able to and know what you are doing than you can. I'll be showing Assets Until Dark, the last surviving stallion of Just Wait Until Dark-next spring.
yes this is correct, you have to be eighteen to show a stallion because they can be very tempermental, and if there is mare's on heat around where you are showing your stallion may become excited and become difficult to handle.
Stallions are harder to control than other horses and it can be dangerous. It is true that you must be 18 to show a stallion. It seems dumb but then you think about how an 18 year old can control a stallion better than a 16 year old.
Yes you are correct same goes for bulls in cattle shows, you cant show one unless you are 18 the whole idea is that if there is a mare in heat the stud will be harder to handle. Also if you are female and it *that* time of the month will set a stallion off.
Under USEF rules, one must be 18 to show or ride a stallion in competition for safety reasons. Other organizations have different rules, and some of them do permit minors to show stallions.

According to most rule books ( Most commonly, USEF ), yes, that is correct. However, shows under different rulebooks and occasionally some specific youth shows allow riders under 18 to show stallions.

Take in mind also that some shows do not even allow stallions, no matter the age of the rider.
no. it is not correct. the only question is can you handle him?
Yes in most rule books it states that you have to be 18 to show a stallion. For safety reasons although it seams dumb... I know a rider in her mid 50s who shows a stallion so I think if she can control him at a show then I (16 years old) could.
