I am sre it has Ich and in the final stages, he is staying at the bottom of his tank and not moving much and has whiite bumps all over him. I tried the salt treatmens and cleaning the tank, but not sure if ithas helped him. I am thinking of just flushing him down the toilet and giving up the fish hobby his is my fifth one I had. ugh. not sure what happend to the others, they were just dead one morning.so should I just flush him or try working with him and what can I be doing wrong. I hate putting fish through this. ugh

Goldfish are one of the most common fishin the world and one of the hardest fish to take care maybe you dont have a filter or heater in your tank or ammonia bulids up (it is a bacteria that is bad for fishes) 2nd:

If you feel like spending 6 or 7 bucks on him you can try getting a product called Mardel Maracyn and/or Mardel Maracyn Two for him. I treated a friend's fish that had Ich with Maracyn and it was gone with in a couple days. You can get it at your local pet store, I got mine at Petco. But if hes too far along it might not work. So its really up to you whether you treat him or not, I would not flush him down the toilet though, thats just cruel to do to a live fish. If you really want to put him out of him misery there are other ways to do it that are more humane...that is if you have the heart to do them, i dont. God luck with what you decide.
Sadly, goldfish don't live very long, try getting a fish with a longer life span.

Oh, and to answer your question, it sounds like he will be dead very soon, so don't flush him..
yeah, white fluffy stuff on your fish , means that it's a goner.

heaps of my fish died cos of that, adn others biting it,
Just let him die by hmself.. Who knows, he might recuperate after self healing.. just flsh him if hes already dead...
He sounds like he's too far gone to be honest. The damage will have already been done, the ich parasite burrows into their body leaving bacterial infections able to get in and kill the poor animal.
To the person who said Goldies don't live long, then you're clearly not doing it right. In correct care they should live over 20 years! They are very messy fish and need very large over-filtered tanks, huge set ups. Ich only gets this far when the fish is stressed out, so gets a low immune system, so the parasite can take hold.

Fishkeeping is a bit of a science experiment! Completely different to keeping furries.
