i just got a black lobster with red claws. is there any care guides on these guys, the guy said there from the tropics. also i just added sand and i need to know how to get it to settle faster?
I don 't know a ton about those lobsters (especially because you didn't give it a name) but I can tell you that you can't put fish in there with them that you don't want to get eaten. I also know that they LOVE to eat crab.
As far as the sand .... depends what kind of sand you got, and where from. All of my tanks have sand in them and I use pool filter sand from the local pool supply place. 2 days and one water change do the trick with that stuff, it's super clean. Play sand from Home Depot is super dirty and can take a month to get under control. Lots of water changes are in your future if that is what you got. Hope you washed it really good before you put it in there. Aquarium sand from the petstore, much easier. Most of it should settle after 3 or 4 days. If it is still merky after that do a 50% water change. Make sure you keep an eye on your filters too for a while ... especially if you have an HOB because they get clogged and the fans in the motor get stuck.
