Bristlenose Pleco Aggression?

Okay, I sort of have a two part question. Here is my problem (some of you have heard this story before):

I recently got a 40 breeder setup with a whisper 60 filter and sufficient heating (I can blast the heating up to about 85 or 85 for ich and stuff but I keep it around 78 right now). Decorations are three terracotta pots of different sizes. One also has the little saucer bottom leaning up against it to cover most of the front. There is also a large piece of mopani driftwood in there. I added the following fish to the tank all at the same time:

- 1 Jack Dempsey, approximately 2.5 "

- 2 Bristlenose pleco, one 3.5 "female, one 2", suspected male.

The piece of driftwood came from the tank with the 3.5 "pleco. It had a hiding place on the back that it would defend from the other fish in the previous tank. After a few days, I noticed tears on the fins of the Jack and the smaller Pleco. I suspected the larger Pleco recognized its old territory despite being in a new tank and I put it back in its old tank with a smaller piece of wood. The other two healed up and went for about a three weeks without incident . Today, I discovered two small rips on the Jack's fins. Here we go again I guess ...

My question is why is it that two small fish don't seem to be willing to share a severely understocked tank that is more than sufficiently decorated with hiding places? Also, do bristlenoses tend to be more aggressive than other species of pleco and why is a fish so badass it is named after a boxer not standing up for itself? If anything, I was worried about the pleco getting harassed by the Jack before I put them all in, not the other way around. Does anyone have any suggestions because I am at a loss for ideas? I have seen tanks with a Jack or two along with a colony of bristlenoses and there are no problems.
Does sound unusually aggressive for a bristlenose, especially a female. Are you sure it's not 2 males ? They may fight over territory.

As for the JD, he's just a baby. There is also the possibility that he's annoying the pleco, and plecos can certainly stand up to other fish if a scrap starts. My Oscar gets a can of woop *** opened on him if he messes with my sailfin. He seems to have learnt to leave him alone now. but he's had various scuff marks and torn fins in the past.
