What kind of food can i feed my green spotted puffer to keep

Hey i have a green spotted puffer fish named Clyde he is in a 5 gallon temperature controlled tank. I was wondering what kind of foods i can buy at a petco or petsmart that will grind his teeth down thanks
Snails, Snails, Snails , Lots of snails, don't over feed them tho ...

They eat every things but flakes. Give them Shrimp (live, or frozen) Blood worm, frozen not dried (they hate dried food.)

Did you know that they will need full marine water (salted) when adult.

5 gallon is WAY TOO SMALL. These guys need 20gal EACH atleast,

I hate people who doesn't do their homework before getting pets.

That poor guys gonna be miserable in a 5gallon, move him in a bigger tank RIGHT NOW.

They are very nasty who pollute the water a lot, a 5 gallon gonna kill them
The best food you can buy at Petco or Petsmart is frozen krill. Save money and buy them supermarket foods. The two best foods for this are slightly boiled shrimps or mussel meat with the shell on. Shrimp are better because its really difficult for the Puffers to get the meat out without filing their beaks on the shrimp shells, and they will be way less expesive than frozen krill, although frozen krill is just as good a food. Be Besure to remove the shells after they eat. Snails are OK, but in my opinion too big a risk of carrying diseases, as are uncooked shrimp. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Your tank is way too small, it should be at 25 gallons per subadult or adult fish. They are brackish water fish, neither fresh nor salt, and need a salinity between 1.005 and 1.015.
Nothing you can buy.Natural foods like snails or small clams (in shell) are how they are usually kept worn down.Pry clams open and put in "on the half shell" or allow them to gnaw them out.Snails just get put in the tank.

Be aware that GSP will require sea salt additions as it grows, eventually requiring brackish water.5g will eventually be too small also.
Like everyone said, you can feed it snails. However my puffer never ate the snails I gave it. So I started feeding it frozen mysis shrimp since they have shells. I also feed them crunchy freeze dried krill, and clams on a half shell.

Oh, the snails you can get for free from petco and petsmart. All you do is ask for them because they are the little pest snails that infest the fish tanks. They will gladly give them to you for free. Great thing about the GSP is that you can keep them in full marine settings and keep them with other saltwater fish. I actually have my GSP's in a tank with clown fish, damsels and other marine fish.
