Mystery Snail laid eggs?

I asked earlier, but only got one response ..

My sisters black Mystery Snail has laid two clumps of eggs above the water line. We've had the snail for at least 8 months now, and it's only ever been the only one in the tank ... My question is, will these eggs hatch or will they just sit there since there's no second snail to fertilize? I'm not exactly sure if these snails can fertilize their own eggs or what.

Thanks (:
Female Mystery snails are capable of storing sperm in their bodies for months, so it is possible that the eggs are viable. Fertilization takes place internally before the eggs are laid.

The incubation period is usually a couple of weeks, so if the eggs haven't hatched in that amount of time or appear to have dried out, they won't hatch. Keep the air humid above the water line by closing off any holes in your hood in order to keep the eggs moist.
Good question, sorry no answer yet. I'm interested too.:)
