okay so when i got my female guppy they told me its possible she was pregnant. and well at that time i knew nothing about fish so i said eh whatever. i noticed her stomach or whatever that thing is called was getting darker. then one day she was thinner and even my friends could tell and the black was gone but no babies. so i brushed it off figued they got eaten. (sorry nothing i could do) but i looked in the tank today and i noticed her eyes were verrrry black , and she is started to get the black under her stomach again.
which is fine ... but i dont have a male guppy in the tank. i never have. please explain this.
If the female has ever been housed with a male, such as at the store, then yes there is a high chance it is pregnant. Female livebearers are pretty clever at reproducing. They can store sperm from previous matings and have around 3 spawns stretched over 6 months without any male present.
Just keep an eye on her!
Im not completely sure about guppies but I know sometimes with translucent sort of fish you can see the contents of their stomach and bowels. So I think you were seeing something it ate or was about to poop , she just happened to lay her eggs when you noticed. She probably laid the eggs somewhere in the tank so if you want baby guppies you should be careful about cleaning, maybe ask another question about the eggs since I know pretty much nothing about that to help.
she mighta had her babies, and their either hiding, got sucked into the filter, or were eaten
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com live bearing fish (your guppy is one of them) can have babies up to 4 times with just mating once so id expect more pregnancies: D
good luck!
Good 4 u
