If I leave some full grown brine shrimp in my hatchery, will

Some of my fish just had babies and now they're big enough to eat some baby brine shrimp (bbs). What I mean by my question is that if i left some of the brine shrimp in the hatchery to grow, will they grow into adults and then lay eggs? Or will I have to just keep on buying eggs?
you can breed them but it's difficult to do. the hard part is that you need a proper tank to do water changes without loosing lots of shrimp while vacuuming out the molts. They foul water rather fast. Without some kind of bio-filter it makes the cause even more challenging. If you do keep them living long enough in good condition then they will certainly breed.

Getting food for them can be done one of two ways, a liquid marine food for filter feeders or more basic things from the grocery store. Brine shrimp will eat yeast, egg yolk, and wheat flour. I feed mine flour. If you haven ' t much experience hatching shrimp, keeping them warmer really increases the chances of them hatching, surviving, and breeding. I'm currently trying to raise brine in a 2 ltr bottle hatchery submerged into my 10g Quarantine tank so they are kept warm.

I recommend powdered spirulina algae as food. They eat mainly algae in the wild.

It's really not worth the time or money to try to breed them for eggs.

I tried it as an experiment once-much easier and less expensive to just buy the eggs.

Keep in mind that brine shrimp living in the proper conditions do NOT lay eggs (form cysts). They give birth to live young that are miniature copies of the adults.

When water conditions turn bad (ie. the puddle they're living in starts to dry up and increase in salinity) they will form cysts.

give it a try if you have an extra tank and a sponge filter. It can take several months before you see any breeding action though,.

good luck,
