I am in college and I just got a betta fish. I will be leaving for winter break and I want to take him home with me because I love him haha. Could my fish survive the hour and twenty minute flight home with me?
He'll survive just fine in a doubled up plastic bag just like you get at the fish store, or even the little deli cups bettas are sold in.
as long as he's wet and has a little bit of air to breath he'll be fine.
Bettas used to be shipped from SE Asia by boat. They can survive three months in a tiny bag while they cross the ocean.
I'd be more worried about getting past security. It's been a while since I've flown. Do they let you carry more than an ounce of liquid on a plane?
take a look at this link. Pictures of how they get shipped into the country these days about a third of the way down.
If you package him properly he should be fine as many fish are transported long distance from countries like Thailand to the States. You would have to do research on how to properly package a fish as I don't know how. Although I googled "how to transport live fish" and the sites below are what I got ... they may or may not be helpful.
Um ... It is ok just to leave him where he is because fish get very stressed out when travling around. Stress makes fish weak and makes it so they can easily get very ill. I guess you could try to take him with you only if you understand there is a good chance he will die. I highly recomend you leave him at home and ask a good friend to tke care of him.
As long he's swimming ina bag of heated water he should be okay.
i don't think you can bring liquids on a plane.
I would assume so, there is no reason he couldn't.
just pack him in the poltytin cover having plenty of water and see to that he gets some air in it
