I have a black more that is about 3 inches in a 15 gallon fish tank. He has a 50 gallon filter and weekly water changes. I only feed him once a day. But when there is no food he just lays on the bottom of the tank. He does not move and i don't poke the glass. There is a small fantail with him that is poking at his gills. When i put the food in he gets up and eats than goes straight back down for the rest of the day. Why is he doing this?
Also i checked the water and everything is normal.
Try feeding them twice a day. Goldfish are heavy eaters and will be healthier if fed twice a day, and also i have a 10g tank with both of those fish are happy in it .

it may not be getting enough rest so make sur it will be getting at least 8 hours
its probley becayse its afraid. also cause its shy. or something is wrong with how big the tank is maby he liks a smaller tank
I would remove the other fish and see how he responds. He may just have stress from the other fish nipping at him.
