Dropped one of my gold fish in the sink? Is it ok=O?

So me and my girl were cleaning out the gold fish tank, We could not find the net. So I had to use my hands.

I picked the last one up and out of its tank and it slipped out of my hands. Almost went down the drain.

I was freaking out. The fish fell about 3feet.

Do you think the little guy is ok?

I feel terrible!
Hi there,

Ya, it's kinda terrible, but I'm sure in most cases, your fish should be totally fine. I've seen fishes jumping out of the tank and hit the floor at fish store, and from my own aquariums, they all survived the shock, and goldfish is supposed to be quite hardy. I always have a lid now btw.

But what's surprising is, why do you need to take out the fish for cleaning? You don't drain your tank do you?

I'm sure taking out a fish is much more stressful for it, than cleaning your tank with the fish in it.

And doing it with your hand is just unnecessary.

Your fish should be swimming and eating again. Don't worry much.

Just don't ever do similar things to your fish again.

:)
Why are you removing the fish from the tank when you clean it? This stresses the fish and is not needed assuming you have a proper tank size for a goldfish. Removing more then 50% is not good for the tank or the fish. Also using your hands will strip the slime coat off the fish making it more susceptible to diseases, parasites, etc ...

As far as will it be ok only time will tell. Goldfish don't fall 3 feet.
He should be fine depending on its health and size. And you should never have to remove the fish from the tank when cleaning it. the fish should have enough room to swim around in while changing the water and do not remove more tan 40% of the water because you are taking out all the good bacteria and other stuff the fish needs and putting them under allot of stress and a higher rate for health problems that can lead to death. always change 30% of the water every month and the water will become clear and healthy for your fish. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

20 ~ 25% water change weekly & once a month 30 ~ 35% water change.
Did you find it or is it still in the pipe? If you got it out it maybe ok depending how wide the drain was. If not it may be stuck in there and will prbably die. Just hope it got down the pipe and is swimming some where else. good luck
Please always use a net. Goldfish are tough and it will be alright. It is most likely stressed but it will calm down throughout the day. Sh * t happens, even with a net, so try not to feel bad ...

Never do a full water change. They need 25% -50% water changes once a week in idea gallons. 2 Goldfish 1-2 "can be in a 10 gallon, but more Goldfish require more gallons.
Yeah he'll be okay he might be kind of stressed though, but I don't think he'd go into shock or anything, but keep an eye on him.
If it's a common goldfish it would live for a while but die of shock .
