I just started a new aquarium a couple days ago (I'm only experienced in small single fish tanks and outdoor ponds I have). It's 10 gallons, heated, the whole nine yards. I have 1 Blue Gourami, 3 Angels, and a Pleco (sucker). They're all young and get along just fine and yes I know they will get bigger and I'll put them in one of my artificial ponds when that time comes (I live in south Florida so the water is already warm enough for them). They guy at the pet store said I still have room in the tank and can add more fish like neon tetras, small coy fish, and a few other types. My worry is that the big fish will bully the small fish. I didn't have this problem with my artificial ponds because the small fish I added were wild minnows from my real pond and they are very hardy fish and had no problem showing the bigger fish whose boss and as far as I know there wasn 't any spread of disease. So now I want to do is take some more minnows out of the wild pond and put them in my aquarium to see what the other fish do. Is that a good idea? How do I know the minnows are healthy and won't disease my other fish? And does anyone else have the type of fish I have together with small fish?
10 gallons? UR CR8ZY! They need a 30 gallon at least NOW. Not when they get bigger. In 10 gallons they wont grow much at all.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Let the Minnows Quarantine for 3 weeks at least in a different aquarium ...
U already need 75 gallons when what you have is full grown. If you didn't cycle aquarium first, most the fish will die anyways in the next week.
Dont worry weve all been there but your first mistake is right at the start. You said u got a new aquarium 2 days ago and youve already got fish in it.You need to wait at least two weeks before adding.I waited 7 weeks lol;)
U need to do a bit more reasearch but good luck!!
The petstore guy doesn't know what he is talking about, you will definitely be overstocked when everything grows, and you might be overstocked now. You can keep like maybe 2 gouramis or 1 angelfish in there when everything is fully grown. no koi, they are pond fish, don't need a heater, plus they get really big so they are better as pond fish. and yes if you get neons they probably will be eaten by the angels or gourami. i would say don't get any more fish. the only way to make sure the minnows are healthy is to quaranitine them for 2 weeks. plus you didn't cycle your tank so you'll be the luckiest person alive if all those fish make it.
