I feed them sera Flake menu, which i bought earlier. And my fish seem to be hungry when i got back because i only feed them once a day sometimes twice. And i always keep feeding until my fish is full (when they are full they start ignoring the food) but when people say u only feed 3 pellets to a Betta, and I was thinking what about 3 of my platies and 1 swordtail? they can eat alot oO, and i dont think they are obese YET. Or maybe not ?
The more you feed, the more waste in your water. Once they are full they may still eat, but it goes right through them to the bottom of the tank. In the wild fish don't eat as well as they do with you, so keep in mind that they cannot process all that they eat as we would think. Extra food becomes extra waste which becomes extra ammonia ... Dirty water that requires changing more often.
You SHOULD NOT be feeding until they seem full, they are wired to eat as much as possible because in the wild they have no idea when they will nest eat, so their instincts tell them to gorge. In the tank the environment is controlled, you know when they will next eat , so you control the amount they get. Underfeeding is better for them than overfeeding. You should be more concerned if they do not seem hungry, a hungry fish is a happy fish.
You feed them a pinch of food for each fish you are over feeding your fish which will lead to ammonia and nitrite problems in the tank and other problems
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com My fish are fed every 2 to 3 days and a pinch for each fish and have never lost a fish in 8 years of keeping fish
Feed your fish as much as they can eat withing five minutes if after 5 minutes there's still food floating about then you're over feeding them. feed them 2-3 times a day.
