My halfmoon bettas wont breed???
i had gotten them to see each other for a while now..she's in a cup where he can flare around her and made eye contact and he also have a whole load of bubbles under the cup that is floating i had put in. so its been like a week when he had a lot of bubbles..its soo full that he's making some on the side of the cup...well i had released her on monday and they did not mate. she just swims and stay by herself at the corner and not hiding and he is just swimming around and stuff. he is not an aggressive betta...well also on tuesday i put them in again today and see if they do anything and still nothing and then today i had put them back together and there is nothing...they are just chilling around and not mating why??? please help me
here the fun part for you... sigh your bettas are either under age or over age. The best time to breed bettas is 6-12 months after or before that it is hard to get them to mate. Another reason might be that you didnt special feed them before this. For bettas to bread, the female must be feed bloodworms for about a week until she is fat and has a bunch of eggs sticking out of her side. Also did the female have vertical lines before you put them together (vertical lines are dark lines on the sides of a females body that develop when she sees a male she likes). As for the male bubble nests are not signs of maturity, I have a 2 and a half month old male who blows huge bubble nests.

Solution:
Try looking for vertical lines and special feed them. Make sure the female is smaller than the male. If your bettas still dont breed, buy very young male and female about 2.5 months apart (male first than female) and track there ages and try again.
