Hi Shirley,
The man at the store is correct. Tadpoles do produce alot of waste and will create a toxic environment.
If you wish to maintain a high degree of health i would recommend that you change the water at least 1 time a week.
Another food source for tadpoles are flightless fruit flies. They can be bought at local pet-stores easily. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
As far as what you plan on doing with the frogs once they come of maturity, i would make sure that they have both land and aquatic areas inside the tank (presuming you are keeping them in one). Java moss is very nice for keeping in frog tanks because it holds moisture.
Frogs can be fed small - medium crickets depending on the size and species of the frog.
Other foods are meal worms, super worms, flightless fruit flies and other insects.
As with all creatures, they require a variety of food and shouldn't be fed the same things all the time.
I hope this helps you . if you need to contact me, feel free.

No, but what they meant is that they produce a lot of waste. Imagine swimming in your own piss. Or course that'd kill you. Fish do something like that as well. They produce ammonia, which is poisonous (we use this chemical it as floor-cleaner), so if you don't change the water, it'll be like it's swimming in floor cleaner or piss. That indeed can kill.

I suggest you change around half of the water twice a week instead. Not all of the water, mind, unless you can see it's dirty, because they don't like it all changed. Do a full water change only once every 2 weeks. I'm telling you to change it more often in case your bowl is small because it'd go bad fast. And leave the tap water overnight before using it. There's chlorine gas in it and it's bad for fish, so let it come back out (like fizzy drinks doing flat).
Only some are...if you got them...do they lay eggs?? If they do thats a big sign that they are really dangerous and poisonous. I can't say much...but yea that's they only common reason...
_Hope this info helps!! =)
