Moving across the country and need advice on moving fish?
I currently live in Birmingham, England and am moving to Middlesbrough in June to go to university, that's more than 200 miles. I currently have a goldfish (2 years) and a Shubunkin (1 year), I also have a 120 litre fish tank, I know it's too small but when i get up there, I'll be getting an 800 litre fish tank so they only have to last another 6 months. My question is, what is the best and safest way of transporting these fish?
answer: I moved a whole bunch of fish from Omaha, Nebraska to Denver, Colorado, a distance of 600 miles in the winter. It took two days and I never lost a fish. Here' s how I did it.
I made a trip to Denver and set up a tank, heater and all so it would be ready

When I transported the fish.
I got a styrofoam cooler to help maintain the temperature. I got some heavy duty plastic bags. Before I put any water in them, I blew them up like a bloon to be sure they didn't leak. Then I scooped about half the water from the tank into the bag, then put in the fish. I used an air punp and hose to pump air into the bag and closed the top with a rubber band.
Once I got the fish to Denver, I took the bag of fish out of the cooler and placed it unopened in the fish tank to equalize the temperatures then opened the bag and eased them into the tank water. Like I said, I never lost a fish.
maybe go to a petshop and get one of those plastic bags they put htem in. then put that in a box with lots of padding so it doesn't role around
