The only issue with them being in a 29 gallon is room to explore. Keep in mind they are mostly bottom dwellers. I have seen 4.5" Emerald Corydoras. If your 8 fish hits 4" each, you should upgrade to a 40 gallon just in case they decide to keep growing.
In a 29 LONG gallon aquarium only 5-6 Emerald Corydoras would have enough room at the bottom.
No matter how you look at it, just know that you are fully stocked now.
Cory are a very social fish. I have a tropical tank with 6 Emerald green Corydoras , 3 Common Plecos, 1 High Fin Spotted Pleco, 1 African Feather Fin Catfish and 6 Orange Mollys.
Cory Catfish are Bottom dwellers and with all tanks a ballance of Top swimmers, Mid swimmers, and bottom swimmers is recomended.
with cory catfish you should know a few things.
1. Cory catfish are bottom dwellers and need to have hide-outs. Make sure your tank has plenty of cover for them. Rock caves, Driftwood, and plants. All of this will make for a happy cory community.

2. Cory cats can become territorial when spawning. this is not so always but it has been seen before. Cory cats spawn when cool rainfall is introduced into the enviroment. ( A few trays of ice cubes into the water will induce spawning most times)
3. know how many males and females you have. The Simplest way to tell a Male Cory from a Female cory is by this simple rule:
Male Cory have flat stomachs and their barbels rest on the floor when resting.
Female Cory Have rounded stomachs that elevate their barbels off the ground when resting.
Make sure you dont have all males or all females because a population of a single gender can cause tension and stress.
I have Many cory cats and i breed them when possible. If you need or want more information feel free to email me at Goldenarcher1328@yahoo.com
your tank is fine with that number of corys provided they have cover and ample ground space. I would however suggest that you should not add any more fish and that you consider upgrading to a 40 gallon tank just to be sure that your fish are given enough room to grow.

honestly, my mom had a tank of mollie an the reproduced like crazzzzyyyy we gave baggies full to pet stores every two weeks an she had a ten gal with like 30 fish in it.. the fish where fine haha they never died im sure they didn't like it but yeah! sooo im sure ur good:)
Usually the rule is one inch of fish per gallon of water. I don't know how big emerald green cory catfish are, but estimate about how long they are and for every inch there should be one gallon of water. It sounds like its fine though. As long as they look like they can swim freely.
no its not over stocked i have 18 gupies in my 4 gallon tank
Ignore Omar, his tank is over stocked. Since cory cats get to 3 inches full grown then 3*8=24 inches of fish so you are fine in a 29 gallon tank.
Are they all big? If not, then it is not overstocked. If yes, then your tank is overstocked.:)
