The can only told me to put as much as the fish can eat in 2 minutes. What I've read in websites are that you have to soak them. If so, how long do you soak them?

Goldfish are notorious over eaters. So don't go by the 2 minute rule or they will pig out. Goldfish's stomachs are the size of their eye. So only feed enough pellets to fill their eye. That would be after soaking.

And I agree with 8, soak for about 5 minutes to prevent floaty issues.
