Do I have to many fish in my 26 gallon tank?
I have 3 black skirt tetras 3 x-ray tetras 3 marble mollies 4 green tiger barbs 5 gold barbs and 1 Chinese algae eater ( and I am aware of how big the Chinese algea eaters get so don't count that please) is that too many and if not than how many more can I get? Could I get 6 male fancy guppies?
answer: i was told once by a pet store just for fish that a good amount of fish for any tank is one inch for evey 3 gal's of water so if you have a 2"in fish a good space for it is a 6 gal tank get it and so on i hope that helped you out some
yes you are over stocked and barbs and tetras will be very stressed if the are not in schools of 6 or more each. The tiger barbs can become very aggressive when not in schools of at least 8 even that might not be enough. Tetras tend to be stressed and nervous when the are not in proper schools, and stress makes fish open to diseases like ich that will spread to even the healthy fish.
1) yes to many fish pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
2) tetras are schooling fish
3) just because the algae eater gets big doesn't mean it doesn't count with the fish stocking density???????????
4) mollies like salt
5) i'm sure that many barbs would like a lot more space.
As it is, I wouldn't get any more fish. Unfortunately, though, the tetras and barbs need 6 or more to form a proper school. Mollies also do better in brackish water than freshwater.
yes you have to many fish they will be very stressed, with the amount of fish u have u need a 40+ gallon tank u must change or they will die
Yes, you have too many fish.
