3. How long can a mystery snail last without water?

4. Do they need live plants in the fish tank?

5. Do they need to be in a group?

PLZ GIVE SPECIFIC ANSWERS THANK YOU!
Mystery snails will indeed eat algae pellets, and other stuff such as blanched vegetables. It's good to vary their diet.

Mystery snails breathe air from the surface using a long tube, so this is what they are doing at the surface.Mystery snails can probably go a few days without water in a humid environment, but I don't recommend experimenting with this.

These snails don't need live plants, but liv plants are beneficial to your tank. They do not need to be kept in groups unless you want to breed them, in which case, keeping a group will ensure you get both males and females, as this species of snail is not hermaphroditic.
1.snails will eat any food that falls to the gravel, they love cucumbers and vegies too and so will your pleco pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

2. I dont know what you mean buy "somthing splits", but even the ones in the petstore climb to the water surface, they are probobly looking for algae.

3. II have seen mine out of water for 2-3 hours, I stopped worrying about them. They seem to know when to get back in the water.

4. They dont need live plants but they would love to eat some.

5.they dont need to be in groups, but you might want to get more if you have any algae issues.

Dont ever buy any loaches or the snails will be lunch
I answered a question similar to yours. The snail would go up and suck something ...... I think that's not a problem if it likes to do so, eh ?

Well, live plants would be better for them. It creates a more "natural" environment for them and probably will boost their health and mood.
Just to add a little info, mystery snails leave the water often to lay their eggs , so if you see some pinky looking weird stuff above your water line then u may get some small snails soon ....
1. Yes. Supplementing a snails diet helps keep them healthy as well. You can also sink blanched leafy greens like spinach, collard greens or romaine to the bottom of the tank as well. There's also some great recipes out there for making your own snail food. www.aquariacentral.com has a few great ones like "snell-o" and snail biscuits.

2. Mystery snails can breath air. They have a breathing tube that they can bring out when they are at the surface of the water.

3. I'm not entirely sure .. but I don't imagine long. Although they can retract into their shell and use their trap door to seal themselves in, the moisture they hold in there I'm sure wouldn't last too long.

4. They don't NEED live plants, but like the other person said it does help them think they are in a natural habitat. It also will help keep the water parameters more stable, and help with the cycle of the tank. Plant's would use the waste of fish and snails and grow, the plants would use CO2 given off by the fish, and turn it into Oxygen for the fish.

5. They don't NEED to be in a group. In larger tanks, they can be kept in groups though. I like them in groups, but I like all my fish and inverts in groups. With groups you may get egg laying. They lay clutches out of the water. Along the rip of the tank. Clutches can provide hundreds of babies. If you'd prefer not to have the clutches hatch, I recommend letting the snail lay them, scrape them off the side of the tank . Freeze them for a few hours, and then smash them with a hammer. This is only to ensure they are destroyed so they don't hatch out and become an invasive species.
Hello there:) pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

I currently have two mystery snails, so I can answer your questions with ease:)

1. Yes they do, but in order to save on cash, I would use a SMALL piece of cucumber. Remove it the next day, as it pollutes the water quickly: O

2. The mystery snail can also breathe water from the surface. This is normal, but if it does it very often, you might want to check your oxygen rates.

3. Probably about a couple hours, but I would not risk this.

4. Don't bother! Mystery snails are notorious for devouring entire planted tanks in days. If you plan to keep them, do not bother buying live plants, for they will be down to the roots the next day. If you have a planted tank, I would return it right away! or keep it in a seperate tank.

5. No, plus this keeps them from reproducing. They are not asexual as other snails (trumpets come to mind)

I hope this helps:)
