I have a small 3 gallon tank. My real question is, is it worth it to spend 60 dollars on a 20 gallon tank when I already have a 3 gallon tank? All the fish I had in my 3 gallon died. At first it was because I over fed them (in my defense my parents never told me I can't feed them 5 times a day! lol) and then I think it's because it was to small of a tank. I really want fish. and I will take care of them. should I?
If you want to keep fish, then spend the money on an appropriately sized tank. A 3 gallon is basically useless except for a dwarf shrimp tank.
Be sure to do a lot of research to avoid overcrowding the tank, and cycle it before adding fish.
You say you really want fish, but it was your parent's fault they didn't tell you how often to feed them? Are they your fish or your parents? You really need to be responsible when it comes to fish, loads of research is required. If I was you this is what I'd do
1. Spend 1 month deciding what fish you want, and see if they can live together in 20 gallons. Also figure wout what water perameters and food they need

3. While the tank is cycling, MORE RESEARCH!
If you are willing to do what I listed, good luck and have fun with your fish!:)
You should not keep any fish in a three gallon tank. The only living thing that a three gallon tank would be a suitable home for is a snail and maybe shrimp.
Yes, get the twenty gallon, or don't get any more fish.
You should with out a doubt step up to the 20, and you should be able to find one for way cheaper then 60 bucks, but keep in mind that you will need a better filer and heater.
A bigger tank will make it much easier to keep the fish alive as the higher the capacity of a tank the less vulnerable it is to sudden changes in temp or water parameters. Three gallons would be extremely hard to care for in all reality.
Try petco as last time i was there they had a sale on tanks for a dollar a gallon, also the first tank i got came from there and it was a 20 gal kit and it came with everything you need, even food and water conditioner, and it was only 100 bucks for the whole thing, even a filter and heater. (the filter really is a good filter, but i upgraded to a marineland one with the a biowhell rated for a 50 gal cause i planed on overstocking the tank by a couple inches of fish.
