What all do I need to take care of a fish?

I have a one gallon bowl and I am only looking to get one fish to put into it. What all do I need to get at the store besides a fish and fish food?
Gravel, water conditioner, maybe a plastic plant, and possibly a light or miniature filter.
You cant a keep a fish in a bowl, plain and simple. Not enough dissolved oxygen can enter the water due to the lack of surface area and no real filtration or heating of any kind can take place. If you want to keep a fish alive i recommend committing and doing the right thing by buying a real aquarium hopefully at least a ten gal or a five at worst. (well i guess it doesnt get any worse then a bowl.) Please treat the fish with care as it is your pet and depending on you to take care of him properly.
No Fish can live in a bowl. A Betta requires the least amount of room and that is 5 gallons. (3 isn 't bad but to me it is). A Betta needs a heater anyways and nothing under 3 gallons can be heated with a aquarium heater. Also Goldfish need 30-90 gallons depending on species and will die in a bowl. One baby Goldfish 1 -3 ", or two Goldfish 1-2" can be in 10 gallons. From there it continues to rise. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Get a 5 gallon with heater and slow moving filter if you want a Betta. For ANY other fish, you'll need 10 gallons ...
One gallon is pretty small.: [I recently bought my brother a 3 gallon tank for around $ 15 at Walmart, I'd suggest getting that, even for one fish. You'll need some fish food, rocks, and water cleaner at the least. But then you could get a plant or something for looks.
your question tells me you dont have the requirements to have a fish or pet of anykind. no thing can live in a bowl. the temp gets too cold it doesnt move or eat. go to the pet store and return the bowl. dont buy a fish for that thing ... are you crazy?
