I have a male deep water cichlid (Frontosa). If i get a group of 5 tiger barbs, would they get along with the frontosa?
No.
Frontosa get too large and would eat the barbs. Also, Frontosa like a very high pH and do poorly in lower pH waters; barbs like low pH and do poorly in high pH water. They are not a good pairing at all.
depends on several things:
1. What you feed him - if he is fed feeder fish, he will most likely try to go after them as food.
2. What he was housed with before - this may have trained him to be aggressive and to go after other fish
All things above considered, they should all be fine together. Frontosas aren't generally known to be aggressive but are territorial like other african cichlids.
