I have a stripped leporinus in a tank with a few other fish right now, but he keeps chasing all my other fish and nipping their fins! So I was hoping to possibly throw him in my brothers tank with his piranha's, which are 3 red bellied , in which my leporinus is double the size of the piranha's.
I will not do this if it will hurt him though! And the piranha's seem to always keep to themself's anyways. I just noticed that my two angle's fin's don't look as perfect as they did when I got them, and he keeps chasing my eel which is new to my tank and now doesn't look to be enjoying life always being chased!
Or is there anything else I can do? I have a lot of hiding spots, and I don't know why the eel doesn't hide in the gravel like my old eel did!
Thanks!!
A leporinus when small is a good community fish but needs to be in a big tank because it will grow to 8 inches. It will worry smaller and slow moving fish and nibble their fins especially if there is no plants or algae to eat. If your brothers tank of piranhas is small and the red bellies are small and peaceful the leporinus will nibble their fins also. You could put in the brackish tank ifthe water is not too saline but it will depend on the tank size and if there are other fish in there.
