I really want a couple of FRESHWATER fish,
But my mum says no! She says she doesn't want fish.
I said 'so just because you don't want them, that mean's I don't?' And things started to turn ugly. I told her how responsible I am, and that they only need a pinch of food a day and that it's easy to clean their tank. she still said no.
HOW CAN I PERSUADE HER!?
ps: (if there's cheap tanks WITH LIDS somewhere on the internet, said the link! thanks!)
Well, sometimes it's hard to convince your folks that you are responsible enough to look after animal, and they are worried that they will end up caring for it.
2nd thing is, you need to think about setting up an an aquarium, not just getting a fish. An aquarium is a little self contained ecosystem that you need to set up and care for. It has biological cycles occurring in there, and life support equipment to provide oxygen, light and process waste. OK, not as complex as a NASA space ship, but the idea is the same. It's not just a simple container of water.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com It's not really as complex as all that, but if you think along those lines, rather than a simple bowl of water, you will have MUCH more success.
As to how you persuade your parents?
Patience - do your research. Get a library book or read web pages and forums about fish keeping. Learn how to do it properly. Show your parents it's not just the fad of the week that you want a fish tank.Don 't nag them , but Xmas is coming up ... A 10gal fish tank kit isn't expensive and will let you keep some small fish. It's cheaper than a Pony!!

Edit I have fish, my daughter want a puppy - we will see ... She's more likely to get a fish .. ;-)
hi,
I have a tropical tank and a pond so show your mum how responsible you are and collect information on cold water fish, a small starter tank shouldnt cost too much-make sure you have a filter and gravel to make it as natural as possible! Tell her you will feed them twice a day, clean their tank and look after them-tell her they are the easiest animals to look after but if she becomes annoyed let it go and ask for xmas!!
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Here a really good link for fish tanks:
http://www.bitsforpets.com/fish-keeping- ... check it out there is soo much info! xx
Fish are a lot of work, actually. The tank needs to stay healthy, tested twice a week, a small water change once a week, filter cleaned the RIGHT way ... they require lots of knowledge and understanding, or else you may fail at keeping them, they may get sick and die.
I would do lots and lots and lots of research, write a paper about it and present it to her. Make it really good.
Here's my YouTube Channel for some help, but don't relay on it completly. Research on Google a lot. The more you know, the more convinced your mom will be that you are capable or caring for them.
Here's my link:

show her you are doing reseach. like, hold out a book at dinner. shell see how interested you are. if there are pictures in the book, find the best one and open it to the page. try to make her interested.
Well ... I convinced my dad to buy me a 75 gallon for my-birthday-
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Just keep blurting out information on fish, fish keeping, how cool they are, what they eat.
(Warning, never get a bowl for your fish)
tell her:
it's either a fish or a tattoo, she can choose ...;)
say you will take care of it, feed it, clean its tankand she wont have to worry about a thing!
tell her you won ' t drown it
tell her you can keep it in your room you can go to petco and get a 2 gallon fish tank for 30 bucks and its only about ten dollars for decor for a small tank and get a male or female betta ( not one of each they will attack each other) bettas are really easy to take care of just a small pinch of food a day, try asking her if you guys can go online together or ask her if you can at least tell her about the fish you want you have to give her facts about it so she will think that you no more about this pet and no the responcibilities! take it from me i am 12 years old and have had 2 years of experence with fish on my own 3 gold fish 1 betta and 1 catfish and alot of deaths but the ones i have now are the originals also if you have a pigging bank offer to help pay
