No, you can keep and an Oscar OR a Jack Dempsey, but not both ina 55g. Both are large, fairly aggressive fish and they both produce a lot of waste. Also, an oscar can barely fit in a 55g. An oscar can grow to 14 "and a 55g give only 12 inches of turning space. If your still want 2 fish, it is possible to have a breeding pair of Jack Demspey's in a 55g.
A 55gal is barely big enough for a single adult Oscar, so no.
They can be kept together, but you are going to need a lot more space than that.
