HELP cloudy fish tank?

its already been through its new tank syndrom ive it nearly 8 weeks now i change the water once a week about 20% of it.

i feed them 3 times a day like it says on the tub they cold water fish. i have artificial neon plants in my tank an a rock collaberation with fake plants on it in the corner so they can hide in it. the fake plants & gravel do have food debree on them more in the gravel.

i do have a filter just a cheap one that mainly just oxanates the water. i did have ten danios 5 big and 5 small, & a plec but now left with 6 danios and plec died due to not enough bacteria in water so learnt from that but the water is really annoying me.

i cant afford a new filter at the minute, but will it help if i clean out the gravel? or reduce feeding? or somehow clean out the filter sponge if there is one.?
Your over feeding your fish they don't need feeding 3 times a day mine are only fed every 2 days your filter is not powerful enough and are you doing a gravel vac when you do a water change pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Your plec died because its a tropical fish and you had it living in a cold water tank nothing to do with not enough bacteria in the water
well youre pleco died because it was in cold water they are tropical warm water fish and the water is dirty because you are overfeeding when the food goes in the water and goes down thats how some fish eat but still if it goes down into the gravel dont feed them anyumore because that causes a super rise in nitrits
it's probably your filter. if your filter is an airstone, that's not a filter. if it's a sponge filter, you need to clean it very often it could also be the size of your tank.
I agree with the other answer you are feeding them too much , they probaly only need te be fed once a day. But another easy fix is get an algee eater they eat the scum off of the tank walls and they are really inexpensive
Yep,

Way too much food,

A new filter (under gravel tray type is probably cheapest) and just feed every couple of days or so.

good luck.
You are feeding them way to much they only need one small pinch in the morning and at night and every week skip a day of feeding to fast them becuz u will rewin the organ that balances them and it willl kill them your filter cant handle that much food so just clean the tank out but make sure you put back 25% of the origanal water and let it filter without the fish in it for about 45 minutes i also recemend putting a few pinches of table salt in for color and health inhansment
Hi R -

What size aquarium do you have? Sometimes it can take longer than 8 weeks to cycle an aquarium. If you have a 10 gallon aquarium you should allow this to cycle for 6 weeks at least. You can do a fish less cycle in which you use no fish at all to cycle your aquarium.

You should also keep a water test kit handy, such as Jungle Labs Quick Dip Test Strips (5 in one test kit)-OR-Jungle Labs Quick Dip Complete Water Quality Test Kit (6 in 1 test kit) to help maintain aquarium health. Both test kits test your aquarium water for: Ph, Total Hardness, Alkalinity, Nitrite, Nitrate, and Chlorine in a single dip - Only the Complete Quality Test Kit (6 in 1) will measure your ammonia levels too. You can also choose to purchase an ammonia test kit individually such as API (Aquarium Pharmaceuticals) Ammonia test Kit.

If you happen to have a 20 gallon aquarium I would suggest cycling for no less than 8 weeks for the best cycling effect.

Since you already have fish living within your aquarium I would suggest you not add any more fish for the next few weeks until you get the aquarium tested for its water quality. Correcting the problem could happen within a day or two OR it may take a few weeks to control. Each aquarium set up is different and has different water compounds so there isn't a quick fix necessarily.

I have added a few links for you to take a look at which give helpful information about reducing problems within your aquarium.

As far as the plecostomus, this guy should be in a heated aquarium with plenty of hiding places (since they are usually shy creatures) and given algae wafers to supplement their diet. Plecostumi also like the "vacation feeder blocks". Plecostumi (as well as most freshwater fish) also enjoy zucchini (sliced lengthwise and weighted down at the bottom of the tank), and orange slices (either weighted at the bottom of the tank or clipped close to the top of the aquarium). You will be pleasantly surprised at how much they enjoy the variety in their diet. Also, Instead of feeding your fish regular flake food several times a day try a variety of different foods such as fish "crisps" (perhaps tetra fish crisps or gold fish crisps), as well as a frozen variety of these: blood worms, beef heart, mosquito larvae, krill, and brine shrimp. Give them one cube of your choice, watch them go crazy for it, then the next day offer a cube of another variety. You can also give them fish crisps whenever you choose instead of the flaked food or frozen food. It''s the variety they like. They will love you forever!
