What are Fresh water parrot fish like to keep? Do you keep them on there own? And do they need big tanks?

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2132/2390 ... This is the most commonly sold "Parrotfish". It's a hybrid Cichlid which is best kept in species tanks as it can have a bit of temper. They are a hybrid of several Central/South American Cichlids including Midas, Red Devil and Convict Cichlids . They can get between 6 "-10" depending on their exact cross and really need a minimum of a 55 gallon tank. They can be kept alone, or in groups.
The non-hybrid Parrot Cichlid is this fish, far less common in stores!
