Ok!

good size tank:

hmm, i would say 3 gallons and up at most! 2.5 gallons is also good too but nothing smaller!

food?:

Feed your betta pellets! (Bio-gold betta pellets) and you can also give freeze dried bloodworms as a treat! (BETTAS LOVE THOSE) but they shouldnt be given as a main diet!

water changes:

my betta lived for 4 years and 3 months and what i did was clena the cage about once every 3-4 weeks/once a month! you shouldn't clean there tank to often because it disturbs the water too much, and your betta hates that!

friend fish?:

well, never get another betta because they will fight too death, thats why there name is japenese fighting fish! you can keep them with neon tettra's, aquatic frogs, etc. but never ever put them with another of their kind!

lightning or filters?:

at night you should use a light, very dim light tho not too bright! also, you dont need a filter, but you can if you dont wanna clean there tank so often. If you want to get a filter, make sure it is weak , and doesnt have a very strong current that can make them move everywhere! you can also get a heater! If you cant get a heater than just make sure you maitain the right amount of temp. in the room its in! no drafts, etc .

decorations:

you should quite alot, so you betta will be happy, also make sure you get hidey ones that they can hide in when scared, etc.! If your gonna get plants, NEVER EVER EVER get plastic plants because that will damage there fins, etc .! You wanna either get real plants or silk plants! for pebbles make sure you get smooth ones, so it wont also ruin your betta's wonderful fins; D!

how long do they live:

betta's live for 2-4 years! soo make sure you will be able too take care of it 3 years later !!!!!!!!!!

they are picky eaters!! and make sure when your feeding you feed 2 pellets twice a day! and dont feed them one day out of the week, so they can relax there stomach. they are carnivores, so they like to have a little peice of raw meat every once and a while:]!!!! HOPE I HELPED; D!

HAVE FUN WITH YOUR FISH!

and also xD you can teach them tricks! i taught mines to follow my finger, jump for food, do a circle, etc.! bye!
1. You don't exactly need a "tank". You can use a bowl or even a vase. Maybe a few liters big'll do

2. He should be eating Tetra brand Bettamin, or floating Betta pellets. Feed him once a day, about as much as he'll eat within 5 minutes. A normal sized container will do.

3. Change the water 20% every two weeks. If the water looks really amonia and poo covered, put the fish into a cup of water and wash out the bowl/tank/vase.

4. No! He doesn't need a friend. He'll be fine by himself. DO NOT get another male betta fish, or female, for that matter, and put them together in the same bowl.

5. No special filters or light necessary, but prefered.

6. Maybe a small plant or two if you have a bowl, a few more if you have a tank for him. Oh, and don't forget rocks/gravel for the bottom of the tank/bowl.

7. They live usually 2-3 years. If you feed him special food, about 7 years.

8. Hmm .... Search "betta fish" on Yahoo! Search. You'll get something that will help.

Lets see .... If your fishy starts to collect bubbles at the top of his bowl, that's a bubble nest, and means he's ready to spawn. I repeat, DO NOT GET ANOTHER BETTA FISH AND PUT HIM/HER INTO THE SAME TANK/BOWL AS YOUR BETTA! They will fight eachother to the death. Uhm ...... You will also need to treat your tap water with "Wardley's Chlor-out" or "Jungle Startright" to eliminate any chlorine and harmful metals in the water that could kill your fish.
