Hello,
If I do not find a proper divider for the 5 gallon in my previous question I might consider moving one betta to my 14 gallon. He is a "normal" betta and not a crowntail. In comparison to my crowntail, he is very docile . He will flare at his reflection of course, but doesn't mind as much as the other when they catch a glimpse of one another.
Do you think he would do well in my 14 gallon? I have one male guppy (short orange tail and yellow body) that I am worried he will fight. Here is my tank breakdown:
1 male guppy
1 female guppy (we had some deaths last month in the female department)
1 male Molly
2 female mollies
1 baby, but not tiny, Molly
1 Cory catfish
1 dwarf gourami (male)
I love this betta and do not want him hurt. Plus, I kind of want to keep my only male guppy lol.
Thanks!!
I've personally found that betta's and guppies don't get along very well do to the larger flashy tails they have. The betta tends to go after the tail. The mollies should be fine, as would the cory catfish. Gourami's can be aggressive at times.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com I would recommend rasboras, black skirt tetras, glow light tetras etc. No flashy big tails usually works best.
The dwarf gourami and Betta will seriously injure each other. They are of the same family, and will therefore fight. Bettas are naturally solitary creatures, and therefore do best in tanks of their own.
You could set up a 2.5-5 gallon tank for the little guy for pretty cheap. Check craigslist locally and see if there are any tanks for sale there. Also check out goodwill, sometimes they have great deals:)
Betta's will only fight with their own kind. You should not have any problems with him being aggressive. However you might discover the other fish will nip his fins.
I think the best topping for pizza is pepperoni. You?
