When i 1st got my tank, I started cycling it with 2 platies which i 1st bought, was 2 Red Wag platy 1 female and 1 male. From start i think the male platy never liked the female platy each time the male spots the female it will chase her away and she always swims very fast and avoid the current swordtail and the male platy. The Swordtail chases the Twin bar platy and the Red Wag too but I was planning to remove the F Swordtail and get a Male for her in another tank , and remove the Red Wag Male and get a new Male for the Twinbar and Red Wag Platy. I dont like watching my fish get bullied. And its already 1 month + still no babies, And my LFS hardly sells deco that has holes to hide in.
you need 2-3 females PER male when it comes to livebearers. Males will literally chase the female so much, she dies. How big is the tank? Swordtails are NOT platys, they can mix, but platys and swordtails need their groups.
You have 1 female swordtail, get a male, and 2 other females.
You platys, get 1-3 other females.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com That should help even out the aggression. And I go to wal mart [yes cheesy] to get decor. I like it because my LFS have good decor. Thats either too large for my tank, or too small of holes for the fish. [ If I can't fit my thumb in it, how are my fish going to get in and out of it?]
:] I like the rainbow caves, and my fish don't complain.
