I live in a store and recently I had to install a chlorine tank. Before that, i used clean underground water to fill my fish tank, but does the change from clean water to water that contains chlorine affect my goldfish? I had my goldfish for 2 years and I don't want it to die.
the chlorine in the tap is the same as the chlorine in bleach, your fish cant handle getting it in their gills, eyes, or on their scales, and fins. it can suffocate them and destroy their slime coat. it also kills bacteria, including the healthy bacteria in you biological filter.
Many cities also use chlorine in the water now too, so you cant just let the chlorine evaporate out. The dechlorinator also removes dangerous heavy metals. A stress coat/dechlorinator product will do all those things and help your fish maintain a healthy stress coat. It is well worth the extra money.
ya it will kill them, they wont be able to breath. I did a 30% water change without putting in Water Conditioner that removes Chlorine and keeps the slim coat on them, and they all sank like rocks and i went and got some more and put enough in and mixed the water by hand to keep them moving or they would have died.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com the Chlorine removes the slim coat and stresses them out and they cant breath and wont eat and will die very fast.
Adding water Conditioner removes Chlorine. Its a easy fix: D
Fish cannot live in chlorinated water. Use some water condition to condition the water before placing it in the tank. Let is sit for at least 5 minutes to remove the chlorine, and then add it.
Good Luck, and Hope this Helps.
Yeah bad idea to use the water without a conditioner. The chlorine will burn the fish. If they are in a bowl you can just use bottled water, or fill some jugs with water and let it sit out for a couple days.
Fish cannot live in chlorinated water.

chlorine will kill the fish unless you use a water conditioner to get rid of the chlorine.
I wouldn't recommend that ....
