I just got a new betta fish and this is my first betta. I am in college and I am going home for Thanksgiving Break. I will be gone for 5 days. Any suggestions on how to feed my betta?
1. They have shells with fish food in them that lasts 10 days each. Go tot he pet store and look at "Vacation Feeders"
I had to get a thing that runs on batteries. It feeds for up to 2-4 weeks. I in my opinion I've never had to refill it.: D
I also had like 8 fish at the time along with my betta.
Most "weekend" and "vacation" feeders release food after being placed in the water. Meaning the food goes in the gravel, which is why I prefer mine, which rotates and drops food in daily. You can adjust how much you want to feed it. Mine goes on top of the hood, near the back where there is an opening.
Its awesome, but its also not cheap.
I'm going to "submit" this. But I'm looking for links as to show you exactly what mine looks like and what the vacation and weekend feeders look like.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com -To everyone saying "starve the fish". Humans can go 1-2 weeks without food. So you're leaving kids for 5 days. Are you going to give them water but no food? Treat the fish as you would the kids ! -

I can't find my feeder yet but here are some "electronic ones" which are very pricy! I got mine for like 26 bucks. (It doesn't look like these)

yes your better could eat tropical. That's what he eats in flakes/bloodworms/pellets.:]
Most of the feeders that you give your fish can possibly pollute your tank, so I would suggest having a friends feeding the fish, or let them go that five days without food. Fish can live for a while without food, and betta are especially strong, like goldfish, so they are capable of surviving that.
Pet stores usually have betta feeders that you put in the tank and they feed your bettas for up to a week. You could get one of those. If you can't find one, just give him his normal amount of food before you go. He should be fine. Most bettas can go up to a week without food.
