Although ppl might say the male will chase the female, what IF the male and female are very peaceful together can they be a couple?
The male will chase the female non stop till she gets so tired and stressed she practically just goes into stress and dies, if she is not in the mood if you know what i mean.
if you have a HUGE tank, he will see her and follow her, not all the time but enough that it could stress her out and she dies.
Even when breeding fish you let them do the do and keep them apart, they are not birds they dont just cuddle up for life: D
I wouldnt say its a horrible idea, cuz I myself like to test the Limits on things Iv learned and read to make my own decisions but i would say i think it could have the possibility of a bad reaction but you never know unless you see for yourself. Iv seen Cichlids live with Goldfish for years, so iv read and seen videos of it .. and ppl say it cant really happen but you never know.

I've had mine go great together, but I do NOT advise it.
Because they get along great, one dies, you get another [a female dies, you get another female] and the new female brutally kills the male ..

You can get a 10 gal and use a tank divider. It took 1 year for my bettas to get used used to each other ... [I had 5 females, 1 male]
All them have sadly died. I've never been able to recreate the magic that once was.: (

It really depends on the type of fish you are talking about.
Betta's: one male and one female are not recommended because aggression will probably occur.
Livebearers: a ration of one male to at least 2 females is necessary. The male will harass the female which will cause her to much stress and she would eventually die.

What fish species. A male and female Betta together is too risky and most likely wont work for long. When it comes to live bearers, one male should have at least 2 females. With more than one female they will get rest between being chased.
