Ok heres the story. I had put 3 about half inch bluegills in my 20 gallon fish tank with my musk turtle. 2 of them were more aggressive, so they got more food and grew more. The two big ones are now about 5 inches, and the little one is about one. Today when I was feeding them, one of the big ones grabbed it and tried to eat it. I tapped the glass and it dropped it. I really like the little one, so I moved him to my 10 gallon tank that has 3 zebra danios in it. I know he cant permanently keep him in there, but do you think I could keep him in there until he's bigger and then put him back in the 20 gallon? Please tell me what to do !
If you're looking to keep them long term, get a MUCH bigger tank. Eventually one bluegill will need a 90 gallon tank. At 5 inches, the two bigger ones need to move up as is, I'd put them in at least a 55 and put Tiny back in the twenty.
Take him to your local lake and let him go. It's apparent he won't make it in captivity.
