Betta Breeding Problems?

This is my first time breeding betta fish. I have all of the required tools but the thing is, my female always swims away from the male. He would show off his tail, Sometimes she would follow after his tail. Only sometimes. What should I do to be a successful Betta Breeder? If you answer my question, Please include a website or something where you got the Information from. Answers greatly needed urgently.
Hi Mandi.

I haven't got a web site (there are plenty) for you but I can share you some of my own experiences.

There are and will be many suggestions on how it's done, this is good because it shows that Bettas have adapted to breeding in many ways in captivity. They have a large following and are a great interest on here.

I have found the following works well for me. But obviously check out some other suggestions.

I suggest putting a divider between them so they can see each other but can't get at each other.

He will get the idea he needs to get on and build a bubble nest now he's had time with her already.

Add some duckweed or floating plants to his side even crushed up Styrofoam I've used before.

When the male has built a bubble nest and the female has fattened up full of eggs, and after a while of watching them react to each other you can remove the divider, if you feel there's to much aggression and they don't seem quite ready for each other then replace the divider for a little longer. I know its hard but have patients they will get on with it when there ready.

Feed them both foods such as live, frozen or freeze dried bloodworm, daphnia and brine shrimp, with a mix of dry foods still.

If you can with your choice of heater and filter (which should be a simple bubble sponge filter), lower the water level in the tank to about 2-3 inches, this means the male doesn't have to swim all the way down to retrieve the eggs and once they hatch he again doesn't have to go to far away from the bubble nest to retrieve the dropping fry. This gives him less work and more time to look after the nest and fry. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

When you think the spawning has finished remove the female, if you haven't got anywhere to put her then replace the divider back in and separate them.

Once the fry are free swimming and feeding then remove the male. Best food is newly hatched brine shrimp but there is lots of fry food available in your LAS (local aquarium shop) nowadays.

Give it a week then start adding small amounts of water to lift the water level over a two week period. This gives them fresh water every second or third day depending how often you do it.

Good luck hope all works out for you. Keep at it.
What is the temperature? You could crank it up to 80-82 to encourage breeding. It is best to cut the bottom of a 2 litter bottle (the spout has to be out of the water), and enclose the female Betta. After the male blows a bubble nest, wait for the female to develop white bars, the lift the bottle out slowly not to destroy the nest.

I watched a video on youtube (in spanish) of how they farm raise them and to ensure they don't kill each other they wait for signs from BOTH sexes (the bubble nest for the male, and white bar lines on the female) that they are 100% ready to breed. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
