Standard Gold fish are ￡ 2.75 each. Different types of fancy goldfish can be upto ￡ 10.00
Dont get a bowl, you need a small tank, and you need a filter, so you dont have to keep changing the water.
Spend about ￡ 100 to start with on a decent tank, filter and things for the tank, including an aireating block.
Buy a goldfish book, to get the basics of setting up the tank, the early few weeks are the most dangerous whilst the environment is going through its cycle that the fish can eventually live in with no problems.
Fancy goldfish are very beautiful and calming, and are great pets, living for many years. They are very intelligent and know there owners. I heartily recommend them.
I dont think theres an age at all. My sisters 12 and she bought three. They range from 5-7 pounds depending on the type of goldfish and the store. Get the fantailed ones, there the nicest:) But not with the bulgy eyes cause there creepy and get werid problems sometimes. If you get a tank it will be about 30-100 pounds, but if your get just a really really big round vase then that will be fine But you have to clean it out once a week and get water conditioner to control the alkali in your tap water. Food is not that expensive, just 2 - 7 pounds per container. If you have a local pet shop im sure they'll have all this.

Depending on what kind of goldfish you get, it could be only 50 cents (i'm in the US, i dont know exactly what the cost there) and fancier ones are maybe $ 5. if you can get a healthy comet goldfish (usually sold as feeder goldfish) they are the hardiest ones and usually last a long time. but you can try others like fantails. you will need a 10 gallon tank minimum, set ups here come with a filter, hood, light, and tank for around $ 40. the food is not a big deal. under $ 10 for a large container that will last you at least 3 months. if you buy all the parts for the tank seperately from pet stores you can expect to pay $ 100 which is just plain rediculous. i started goldfish when i was 8. as long as you are responsible enough to care for them then it doesn't really matter what age.
