Can i put cichlids in with a raphael spotted catfish and a p

my pleco is huge. i have a 55 gallon tank and my catfish never comes out. he stays hidden beside a rock and stays there 24/7. i don't see how he is still living but i know he is cause i check on him everyday to make sure,
Yes. Spotted raphaels, as you have seen, hide most of the time, and even if they're attacked, they're pretty well armored. The plecostomus will be perfectly fine.

Deepak's right about cichlids preferring hard water, but that goes only for African cichlids. South American ones are found in the same habitats as plecos and raphaels, so they'll be fine.
Yes. You need to get advice from experienced fish keepers like Texas Cichlid Association members or others like them. There is also an American Cichlid Association. I am not that experienced, but my husband is, but he is not here. If you mix up the wrong fish and sizes, some will kill each other. Some cichlids grow to be very large and some are nicer than others. Go to an auction and get some good deals-join the assoc. and get good advice.
catfish usually takes sometime to settle down ..

Cichlids need hard water (often with limestones or coral sand) and plecos do well in soft or normal water .. so the best answer will be no. However i have seen people keeping pleco and cichlids with no problem

Good Luck

Yes, they are often compatible, but you still need to take care, some are VERY aggressive.

Medium size Sth American species would be your best bet. Firemouth, Convict etc.
