Can different variaties of female betta fish live together?

I want to house about 5 female betta fish in a 20 gallon aquarium but i need to know if they will get along as 2 regulars and 3 half moons
the type of female bettas doesnt really matter the only thing that changes is the tail not the aggression but the only way this will work is if you have tons of hiding places and lots of live plants. you could have fake ones but live ones are always better. if you think its hard to keep them alive then just get the easy ones that dont need too much light. and also when you choose them at the store put their containers together and try to get the ones that dont flare at each other and the small ones too because the smaller the better because they might be less territorial.

warning: i once tried to put 5 female bettas in a 10g tank and i had lots of fake plants in the tanka nd lots od decoration for hiding and they still would fight alot so i returned them and only kept 1: (so be careful they might flare at each other and fight at the beginning but then they will get used to each other.
You shouldn't have any problems, just remember: pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

You need lots of plants, hiding spots, and caves. (Buy a Betta Log, it's a floating plastic hollow log thing, and although it's not the prettiest thing I've ever seen, my Betta Ladies LOVE it.)

The best way to introduce female Bettas is to add them all at once. This method, however, can kill your cycle. The next best method is to rearrange all of the aquarium "furniture", (plants, decorations, etc.) Each time a new Betta is added. This will make the more established ladies think that they're in a new space, and discourage dominance based aggression issues.

Finally, remember that while most female Bettas will get along just splendidly, some are just brats who won't play nice. It's always a good idea to have an extra aquarium available in case you bring such a Betta home.

Good luck. I absolutely love Betta sorority tanks!
Although most of the answers are good, there is more to it than personality. If you have 1 female Betta, she would be fine. If you have 2 female Betta, one will most likely kill the other over territory. If you have three or moe, they will fight and form a hierarchy. The strongest one will get the spot she wants and the others will accept it or die trying to change it. Most of the time, the other fish will accept it. Easily put, it will be a queen and he servants.
Whether or not they get along doesn't really have anything to do with their fins and colors, however I have heard that crowntails tend to be more territorial. It has a lot to do with their individual personalities. Some females are too aggressive to be kept with other fish, and some are perfect little angels. In a 20 gallon, you can actually have a few more than 5. I would say maybe 8 females because they form a pecking order to see which girl will be "the boss". More females means that is there is one girl who chases the others, she won't keep chases the same ones and the aggression will be distributed between more fish.
Depends. Some females are totally non agressive and some are almost as aggresive as a male. Most of the time, female bettas are community fish and get along well with other fishes. I have this method i developed called the time-out method. its where u but the females in the tank, but float them in a individual container untill they get used to each other and become less agressive (less flaring) then, let them go, but if u see any signs of harmful agression float a container in the tank and put them in it making a time out for them (harmful aggresion is agression to where the betta is in danger of getting hurt:. such as: nipping, loss of fins, and flaring + rapid chasing. flaring a little bit isnt harmful agression) hopefully they will get to know each other better and get along. good luck!: D
No, the breed wont matter. Just know that every Betta is different and some females don't like others. ~ SIMPLY PUT ...
yeah
