Hello, I have a 55 gallon tank that I am not currently using and I've all-of-the-sudden gotten enthused to make it into a biotopic vivarium. Problem is, I have absolutely no experience with this sort of thing and I need some direction. I was wondering if anyone on here could offer any resources or tips for constructing a biotope vivarium.
Also, what biodome would be a good one to emulate? I am hoping for one that offers a wide range of both aquatic and terrestrial species. I literally live a block away from a great lake (Lake Michigan) and so that would be the easiest choice, but I am looking for something more exotic.
I've taken a considerable interest to Lake Tanganyika because I love ciclids, but I am worried that there is not enough terrestrial life to make things interesting. Would is work and what else is out there? I know its a lot of work but I think it will be an interesting project for my dad, brothers and I to work out.
Thanks in advance!
South american or asian biotopes are very interesting and have a variety of fish and plants that can be easily found.
