Do they die easily?
80 F is the best temperature for them since they come from asia:)
If it get too cold it wont be active and will lay on the bottom for warmth and if it gets a sickness yes they will die easily, but if it cold no.
Just get a heater, they live longer happier and A LOT more active in warm water: D
you shouldnt let them get under 70 but they can live in colder water, they are not easy to kill, they can go with out water for days, they live in mud wholes in asia
i kept mine at room temp but he died of being fed too much after a month
