I provide the plant a proper lighting 17 watt for only 1 plant, its a beginner plant which LOOKs like a java fern/amazon sword. But problem is i read through the internet and i think it has potassium deficiency. Anyway to solve this problem? ? My plants leaves started having holes, and the end of he leaves starts turning brown
Swords really fertz, i recommend getting some tabs and placing two under the plant, also trim off the decaying leaves and things decaying in your tank will spike your ammonia levels, also to trim the plant there is no need to remove it from the water, simply trim it in the water and clip off the old leaves as close to base of the plant as you can, if you have a tall tank petsmart should carry thing called an aquatic gardener which is simply an elongated pair of scissors and tweezers, (i use this on my 70gal tall)
Another very important fact is that the wattage of light you need is not related to how many plants you are keeping but the capacity of your tank, try to use at least 1.5 watts per gallon but at least two watts pg is what i would use. It sounds like you really need to upgrade your light fixture
i would highly recommend removing the plant and getting rid of it because it could die and rot and cause all kinds of problems and getting some anarchis it is a much heartier plant and costs about $ 3 and you get 5-6 plants in a bunch they have it at petsmart in with the fish
take out the plant and just remove the brown leaves and rotting roots. monitor it and if it doesn't get better, remove the whole plant altogether.
